Travel Destination #4: San Clementer, CA- March 2009
Having never been on the West coast, I was pretty excited to book our vacation to San Clemente. It seemed like the perfect place to stay as is was dead set between San Diego and L.A. About an hour drive to either city. Now traveling with a 15 month old and an almost 3 year old this flight was a little challenging I have to admit. Now roaming around town our youngest wasn't too happy with the "lady" on the plane that kept telling mommy to keep her in her lap! How dare she ask so much from one little person! Our oldest was a little easier to entertain now that she discovered TV and movies :) We made the best of the trip knowing that something good would come of this.
So we arrived at LAX and rented a car as we always do. It seems that as much I we try to travel light, there's always a lot of stuff! This time I packed the girls belongings in one suitcase leaving me with my own and my husband his. We brought our stroller, and....{drum roll} my latest purchase: the Ergobaby Carrier! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! This is by far the most comfortable baby carrier I have tried. It was nice to be able to stroll our big girl around once her legs got tired and have baby in the carrier {which she didn't mind by the way, 'cause the closer to mommy she was, the better}. I've used the baby bjorn and this carrier is so much more comfortable!
And so our California journey began! The first day we arrived we took a walk on the Pier and kicked back a little. The weather was a little chilly in the mornings but warmed up pretty quickly. Our fist trip was to the San Diego Zoo...oh what fun we had :) As always we packed a cooler with lunch...just because food is quite expensive in these parks and nothing very healthy! So many animals and I really do think the little one enjoyed it just as much as her big sister. Some people want to wait until the kids are "older" to see all these things. We figure they will remember a little from each trip and mommy takes so many pictures to jog their memory :) So here are a few shots from our trip:
The girls absolutely loved this place.
This was a day where we got out of the park early and figured we'd take a drive up to L.A. and try to hit Rodeo drive and all those fancy areas. What a JOKE!!! It took us about 4 hours to make it up there {when it should've been about 2}. Thank goodness the girls were good, but my hubby and I were pretty much "done" by the time we made it there. I got off and took a picture of the first star on the sidewalk! And then we hit the road to go back to San Clemente which was another 2 1/2- 3 hour drive!!! HORRIBLE! So by the time we got back we were so exhausted.
The next day we figured would be better so we hit Disney Land. Can I tell you how excited my oldest was:) She got to see Mickey and get her picture taken with him...boy did that make her day! Such fun memories to make with your little ones!
Sea World, San Diego was our next stop. LOVED Shamu :) I'm not sure why but I'm like a little kid when it comes to dolphins and killer whales!

Next stop was San Diego's Wild Animal Park. Completely amazing to see how well they replicated the animals natural habitats!

So now that we got to see Mickey, we were probably parents to one of the happiest little girls! So by the end of the day, we were yet again exhausted and ready to catch some much needed ZZZZZ's :)
Up bright and early we were ready to head out for some more California fun : ) So off to Griffith Park. We couldn't have made it all the way to California and not get a picture of the oh so popular Hollywood sign {Beverly Hill 90210 anyone???}. Beautiful sight! It was interesting to see all the smog {haven't seen that much in our small town}.
As little as the girls were they still seemed to enjoy the Observatory and what it had to offer.
So here was our whirlwind of a California vacation. Busy, busy you'll say but that's just how we like it :) Here are a few bonus pictures! There is so much that we would've liked to do but just didn't have enough time to. Hopefully we can go back and do Lego Land, Knott's Berry Farm, visit San Francisco, Yosemite National Park, and the list goes on. There is so much to do... I hope you come back tomorrow to find our what we did on our 7 day cruise with two kiddos.
Enjoy this beautiful Monday!
